VBR Masters Seeking Support For Our Youth Program

Dear Friends and Family,

Vero Beach Rowing (VBR), is a non-profit organization promoting and teaching the sport of rowing to the community. The club offers programs for youth and “masters” us older folks) as well as outreach programs for many people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful waterway in a rowing shell.

Each fall our youth members organize an “Erg-A-Thon” to raise funds. An Erg-A-Thon is a classic crew fundraising event where athletes row a specified time or distance on rowing machines (ergs) showing their passion and committment to their sport and hopefully earning the right to ask for your donation. Our masters are participating in this important fundraiser in solidarity with our youth athletes. We plan to have two teams which will each be rowing in relays for the marathon distance of 26.2 miles (42,195 meters). We hope to raise $5,000 toward the total goal of $50,000. The event takes place Saturday, November 16th from 8am to noon at our Boathouse.

Donations received during the Erg-A-Thon will benefit outreach for disadvantaged youth, summer programs, and tuition assistance.
